Color images are printed at a custom photography lab from a digital file. Lightjets and Epsons are the two methods I have used for color prints. Both produce excellent quality prints.
Black & Whites are printed the old fashioned (and best) way, in a darkroom as a silver gelatin print. That is just another way to describe a conventional B&W print.
