My favorite spot for mountain pictures, and especially sunrise pictures, is the Alabama Hills. This is in the lower Owens Valley between the town of Lone Pine, and the highest mountains of the Sierra range. This is a very scenic area and many movies, especially western movies, were filmed here, using the rugged rocky hills and the Sierras as a background.
