Ruaha-Cape Buffalo Feast
Ruaha National Park, Tanzania
We came across 8 fresh cape buffalo carcasses in the river, with a large pride of 14 lions feasting on them. We think the cape buffalo spooked at night and stampeded and some stumbled off the short cliff to the river, and might have been trampled. This happens to wildebeest all the time when they cross rivers.
