Wildebeest are my favorite non predator animal. They are the main ingredient in the "great migration", which is basically a trek by a couple million animals seeking out the best grass to eat, from the southern Serengeti, up to Masai Mara. The timing and location of the rains is the biggest dictator on where the best grass to eat is. We timed our last trip to Serengeti to be in the southern area where the wildebeest usually are in February during their calving period. We saw many thousands of wildebeest. Also, the big predators are very happy when the big herds are in their hunting ground.
